The FC Bike Library is a sign of the times (Paris has a bicycle lending program, so do many other cities in Europe.) We had some pushback in the Fort from local bicycle shops. A few claimed we were stepping on their toes; that government had no business involved in bicycles?! (Yet we build roads and parking structures to assist the automobile industry, no?)

Bottom line is: there are more people on bikes now, the library can't possibly supply the demand, bikes shop sales seem to be up and several shops have started renting bikes. So it seems that free bikes are good for the bike business too. Whaddaya know?!

KC.
I enjoyed your knowledge and advise to the bikers and their brakes.
I have invented an Automatic Brake System modulator .Universal design for cable operated brake systems. It is a propotioning mechanichal unit.
It will help preventing front wheel lock up and balance the braking action
during speed control even in an off straight line travel.
Please take a look at www.budbrake.com and evaluate the unit for bikers Safety. I would appreciate your oppinion and comments.
Regards,
Bud.

I dunno... I think 17 days is a long time. In any case, I have the same multi-tool, and like it very much. I just wouldn't want to be without for 17 days--I hope mine holds up better! :D

I have had the Crank Bro's 17-multi for about 2 years and has served me well. The only thing I would say is that because the mini screw drivers are on a hinge I found it hard to get good leverage on screws, to untighten. Apart from that it's great as you mentioned. Good website. . . carry on

Looks like he posted a journal entry the day he died:
